laurels
Champion's leafy crown
Laurels are the leaves of the bay laurel tree, which in ancient Greece and Rome were woven into wreaths to crown victors and poets.
The word now means honors or achievements: She earned her laurels through years of dedicated research.
To rest on one's laurels is to coast on past accomplishments rather than pursuing new ones.
