fantasist

Inventor of worlds

A fantasist is someone who indulges in fantasy or creates elaborate imaginary scenarios.

The word can describe a creative artist who works in fantasy genres, but more often carries a negative connotation—someone who fabricates stories, exaggerates wildly, or lives in a world of delusion: He's not a liar exactly, more of a fantasist who half-believes his own tales.
