mythmaker
Weaver of tales
A mythmaker creates myths—stories that explain origins, embody cultural values, or shape collective understanding.
The term applies literally to ancient storytellers who crafted tales of gods and heroes, but more often describes modern figures who construct influential narratives: Reagan was a mythmaker who transformed American conservatism.
Mythmaker can be neutral or slightly skeptical, suggesting someone who shapes perception more than records fact.
