idealist
Believer in perfection
An idealist holds to high principles or envisions how things ought to be rather than accepting how they are.
The word can be admiring—someone who pursues noble goals despite obstacles—or dismissive, suggesting naivety about practical realities: She's too much of an idealist to survive in politics.
In philosophy, idealism holds that reality is fundamentally mental or spiritual rather than material; an idealist in this sense follows that tradition.
