fairy mounds
Hollow hills beneath
Fairy mounds are small hills or earthen mounds in Celtic folklore believed to be dwelling places of fairies or other supernatural beings.
Found throughout Ireland, Scotland, and Britain, these are often ancient burial sites or natural formations that traditional belief held should not be disturbed: The farmer refused to plow near the fairy mound.
Also called fairy forts or fairy hills.
