drumlins
Ice-sculpted hills
Drumlins are elongated, teardrop-shaped hills formed by glacial activity.
They typically occur in clusters called drumlin fields, with their tapered ends pointing in the direction the glacier moved.
The term comes from Irish and Scottish Gaelic for "little ridge." The drumlins dotting the landscape revealed the path of ancient ice sheets.
