exit poll
Post-ballot questionnaire
An exit poll is a survey conducted outside voting locations, asking people who have just voted how they cast their ballots.
News organizations use exit polls to project election outcomes before official results are counted and to analyze voting patterns across demographic groups.
The exit polls showed younger voters breaking heavily for the challenger.
Results can be unreliable if the sample doesn't represent all voters or if people misreport their choices.
