electric tram
Wired urban rail
An electric tram is a rail vehicle that runs on tracks embedded in city streets, powered by overhead wires or a third rail.
Trams were dominant urban transit in the early twentieth century before buses and cars displaced them; many cities have since revived them.
Also called a streetcar or trolley in American English.
