streetcar line
Fixed-route trolley system
A streetcar line is a transit route served by streetcars—rail vehicles that run on tracks embedded in city streets.
The term refers both to the physical infrastructure (tracks, overhead wires, stops) and the service itself: The old streetcar line ran down Main Street.
Many American cities dismantled their streetcar lines in the mid-twentieth century, though some have been revived or newly built.
