elector

One who votes

An elector is someone who votes or has the right to vote in an election: registered electors.

In the United States, an elector specifically refers to a member of the Electoral College—the body that formally elects the president: Each state appoints electors equal to its congressional delegation.

Historically, certain German princes were called electors because they chose the Holy Roman Emperor.
