einsteinium

Synthetic actinide series member

Einsteinium is a synthetic radioactive element, atomic number 99, in the actinide series.

It was first identified in debris from the 1952 hydrogen bomb test and named after Albert Einstein.

The element has no practical applications outside scientific research due to its scarcity and instability—it must be produced in nuclear reactors and decays rapidly.
