cyclotron
Magnetic particle accelerator
A cyclotron is a type of particle accelerator that propels charged particles—protons, ions—in an outward spiral using magnetic and electric fields.
The particles gain speed with each loop until they're ejected at high velocity.
Cyclotrons are used in physics research and to produce radioactive isotopes for medical imaging and cancer treatment.
