druidess

Female oak mystic

A druidess is a female druid—a priestess in the ancient Celtic religious order.

The word appears mainly in fantasy fiction and historical romance, where druidesses tend groves, practice nature magic, or offer prophecy.

In modern pagan and neo-druidic practice, the gender-neutral *druid* is preferred for practitioners of any sex.
