Anu
Mesopotamian celestial ruler
Anu is the sky god in ancient Mesopotamian religion, the supreme deity of the Sumerian and later Babylonian pantheons.
As father of the gods and ruler of the heavens, Anu represented divine authority and kingship.
His name simply means "sky" or "heaven" in Sumerian.
Though rarely worshipped directly, Anu's cosmic authority underlies much of ancient Near Eastern mythology.
