sacred grove
Consecrated stand of trees
A sacred grove is a wooded area set aside for religious or spiritual purposes, often believed to be inhabited by deities or spirits.
Many ancient cultures—Greek, Celtic, Germanic, Hindu—maintained such groves as places of worship, sacrifice, or communion with the divine.
The term now extends to any natural space treated as spiritually significant: The redwood stand became her sacred grove.
