docking station

Peripheral expansion base

A docking station is a device that connects a portable computer or phone to peripherals—monitors, keyboards, power supplies, external drives—through a single connection.

The user docks the laptop when at a desk and undocks it for travel: I forgot to grab my laptop from the docking station.

Also called a dock.
