dispossessing
Stripping of ownership
Dispossessing is forcing someone out of property or land they occupy or own.
The word implies taking away what someone has held, often through legal action, coercion, or conquest: The colonizers spent decades dispossessing indigenous peoples of their ancestral territories.
It can extend to any stripping away of possessions or rights: Economic changes dispossessing workers of job security.
