sparsity
Fewness of elements
Sparsity is the quality of being sparse—thinly scattered or in short supply.
The word appears most often in technical contexts: in statistics and machine learning, a matrix with sparsity has mostly zero values; in data science, sparsity can be an advantage or obstacle depending on the algorithm.
The sparsity of the data made pattern detection difficult.
