digicams

Filmless photo devices

Digicams is an informal shortening of digital cameras—cameras that capture images electronically rather than on film.

The term was most common in the early 2000s when digital photography was novel and enthusiasts distinguished between film and digital equipment: I'm looking at digicams in the $300 range.

Now largely displaced by simply "cameras," since digital is the default.
