DSLRs

Mirrorless cameras' predecessors

DSLRs is the plural of DSLR, a digital single-lens reflex camera.

These cameras use a mirror and prism system that lets photographers see through the actual lens when composing shots, then flips the mirror out of the way when the shutter releases.

DSLRs dominated professional and enthusiast photography in the early 2000s before mirrorless cameras began displacing them: She upgraded from her old DSLR to a mirrorless system.
