denarii
Ancient Roman coins
Denarii is the plural of denarius, a silver coin that was the standard currency of ancient Rome.
The term appears most often in historical, biblical, and classical contexts: The laborer's wage was one denarius per day.
In the New Testament, Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, sometimes rendered as denarii.
