percent sign
Hundredths notation mark
The percent sign (%) is the symbol used to indicate a percentage—a proportion out of one hundred: The test showed a 15% improvement.
It follows the number without a space in most style guides.
In computing, the percent sign serves various functions: a wildcard character in database queries, a modulo operator in programming, or an escape character in URLs.
