decarbonized
Stripped of emissions
Decarbonized describes something that has had its carbon or carbon dioxide emissions reduced or eliminated.
The term appears most often in discussions of climate policy and energy: a decarbonized power grid, decarbonized steel production.
Industries, economies, and energy systems are decarbonized by shifting away from fossil fuels toward renewable sources.
