heat pumps

Move energy both directions

Heat pumps is the plural of heat pump, a device that transfers thermal energy from one place to another—extracting heat from air, ground, or water to warm a building, or reversing the process to cool it.

Unlike furnaces that generate heat by burning fuel, heat pumps move existing heat, making them more energy-efficient: We installed heat pumps to replace our old gas furnace.
