electric vehicle
Plugged-in transportation
An electric vehicle is a car, bus, truck, or other vehicle powered by electric motors rather than an internal combustion engine.
The term usually refers to battery-powered vehicles that plug in to charge: We're thinking about getting an electric vehicle.
Often abbreviated EV.
Hybrid vehicles use both electric motors and gasoline engines.
