zero-emission vehicle

No exhaust car

A zero-emission vehicle produces no exhaust pollutants during operation—typically electric cars, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, or other battery-powered transport.

The term refers to tailpipe emissions only; manufacturing and electricity generation may still produce pollution elsewhere: California offers rebates for zero-emission vehicles.

Often abbreviated ZEV.
