decampment

Sudden group departure

Decampment is the act of departing, especially suddenly or secretly.

The word comes from military usage—breaking camp and moving on—but now applies to any hasty or unannounced exit: Their decampment from the rental left the landlord with unpaid bills.

Less common than the verb decamp.
