data packets
Digital transmission units
Data packets are small units of information transmitted across computer networks.
When you send an email, stream a video, or load a webpage, the data breaks into packets that travel independently through the network and reassemble at their destination.
Each packet contains a portion of the content plus routing information—like addressed envelopes carrying pieces of a letter.
Some data packets were lost, causing the video to buffer.
