cross-links
Molecular structural ties
Cross-links are connections between separate chains, strands, or elements—most often in chemistry, where they're bonds joining polymer chains to form a more rigid structure.
The term extends to any lateral connections between parallel things: The report includes cross-links between chapters.
As a verb, to cross-link is to form such connections: The proteins cross-link when heated.
