disconnections

Cuts in continuity

Disconnections are instances of being cut off or separated.

Utility disconnections happen when service is terminated for nonpayment.

The word covers both physical separations—disconnections in the wiring—and abstract ones: the disconnections between policy and practice, a feeling of disconnection from my community.

The plural often emphasizes multiple breaks or gaps rather than a single event.
