court orders
Binding judicial directives
A court order is a legally binding directive issued by a judge or court that compels someone to do something or refrain from doing something.
Court orders cover an enormous range of situations—from restraining orders that keep one person away from another, to orders requiring payment of child support, to injunctions halting construction projects.
Violating a court order can result in contempt of court charges and penalties including fines or jail time.
