copyholders
Desk reading aids
Copyholders are devices that hold documents upright beside a computer screen, allowing typists to read source material without looking down.
The term also refers to people who hold copy—assistants who read aloud from a manuscript while a proofreader checks the typeset version against it.
Historically, a copyholder was a tenant who held land by copy of the manor court roll, a form of land tenure in medieval England.
