paper clips
Bent wire fasteners
Paper clips are small bent pieces of wire or plastic used to hold sheets of paper together without puncturing them.
The standard design—a double-looped wire that slides over pages—has remained largely unchanged since the late 1800s.
Paper clip can also function as a verb: I paper-clipped the receipts to the expense report.
In extended use, paper clips represent mundane office supplies generally, or improvised tools for picking locks and resetting electronics.
