concern troll
Disingenuous online critic
A concern troll poses as a sympathetic ally while raising doubts or criticisms designed to undermine rather than help.
The pose is one of friendly concern: I support the movement, but I worry this approach will backfire.
The tactic works by sowing discord from within, making bad-faith criticism harder to dismiss.
Originally an internet phenomenon, the term now applies to any feigned-concern criticism.
