commutativity

Swapping doesn't matter

Commutativity is the property of an operation where changing the order of operands doesn't change the result.

Addition is commutative: 3 + 5 equals 5 + 3.

Multiplication is commutative.

Subtraction and division are not: 5 − 3 doesn't equal 3 − 5.

The concept extends beyond arithmetic to any operation where sequence is irrelevant to outcome.
