channel-surf
Scan TV stations
Channel-surf is to flip rapidly through television channels, sampling what's on without committing to any program.
The behavior emerged with remote controls and expanded cable options: I spent an hour channel-surfing but couldn't find anything worth watching.
By extension, it can describe browsing distractedly through any media options.
