carbo-load
Eat pasta strategically
Carbo-load is a verb describing the practice of eating large amounts of carbohydrate-rich foods like pasta, bread, and rice, typically in preparation for endurance athletics.
The theory is that loading up on carbs maximizes glycogen stores in muscles, providing fuel for prolonged exertion.
Runners traditionally carbo-load the night before a marathon.
The term is also used loosely for any enthusiastic consumption of starchy foods, athletic rationale or not.
