canine distemper
Deadly puppy virus
Canine distemper is a highly contagious viral disease affecting dogs and other carnivores, attacking the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems.
Symptoms include fever, nasal discharge, coughing, lethargy, and in advanced cases, seizures and paralysis.
The disease is often fatal, particularly in puppies, though vaccination has made it preventable: Make sure your puppy gets the distemper shot.
