cadres

Inner circle members

Cadres are the core members of an organization who form its essential framework—the trained, committed personnel around whom a larger structure can be built.

The term appears most often in political and military contexts: party cadres, revolutionary cadres.

In communist movements especially, cadres are the dedicated activists who organize and lead.

The singular cadre can mean either one such person or the group collectively: She was a cadre in the movement, The cadre met weekly to plan strategy.
