bug-out bag

Emergency survival kit

A bug-out bag is a packed bag kept ready for emergency evacuation, containing supplies for short-term survival—water, food, first aid, documents, and basic tools.

The term comes from military slang for hasty retreat: I keep a bug-out bag in my car in case of earthquakes.

Also called a go bag or 72-hour kit.
