brow ridge

Bone above eyes

The brow ridge is the bony prominence above the eye sockets, forming a shelf beneath the forehead.

In anatomy and anthropology, it's a key feature for studying human evolution—Neanderthals had pronounced brow ridges, while modern humans have flatter ones.

Also called the supraorbital ridge.
