skid steer

Zero-turn construction vehicle

A skid steer is a compact, maneuverable construction vehicle with lift arms that can accept various attachments—buckets, forks, augers, brushes.

It steers by varying the speed of wheels on opposite sides, allowing it to pivot in place: The landscaper used a skid steer to move mulch.

Also called a skid loader.
