blockader

One preventing passage

A blockader is a ship, military force, or person that participates in a blockade—the sealing off of a port, city, or region to prevent goods or people from entering or leaving.

The term appears most often in historical contexts: Union blockaders patrolled the Southern coast during the Civil War.

It can also refer to someone who blocks access more generally: Protesters acted as blockaders at the factory entrance.
