corvettes
Small fast warships
Corvettes are small, fast warships—lighter than destroyers, typically used for patrol, convoy escort, or coastal defense.
The term dates to sailing navies but was revived for World War II escort vessels.
Separately, a Corvette is a Chevrolet sports car, an American icon since 1953: He restored a '63 Corvette.
