import restrictions
Limits on goods
Import restrictions are government-imposed limits on goods entering a country.
These include tariffs, quotas, licensing requirements, and outright bans.
Countries implement import restrictions to protect domestic industries, address trade imbalances, or restrict dangerous or politically sensitive goods: The administration announced new import restrictions on steel.
Also called trade barriers.
