bicorne

Peaked admiral's headwear

A bicorne is a hat with two points, the brim folded up to create a crescent shape.

Most associated with Napoleon, who wore his sideways, the bicorne was standard military headgear in the late 18th and early 19th centuries: The general adjusted his bicorne before addressing the troops.

It survives today mainly in ceremonial dress uniforms.
