Bourbon Restoration

French throne reclaimed

The Bourbon Restoration was the period when the Bourbon monarchy returned to power in France after Napoleon's defeat, first in 1814 and definitively in 1815 after Waterloo.

Louis XVIII and then Charles X ruled until the July Revolution of 1830 toppled the dynasty again.

The term sometimes applies to parallel restorations of Bourbon rule in Spain and Naples.
