base64

ASCII encoding scheme

Base64 is an encoding scheme that converts binary data into a text format using 64 printable characters—letters, numbers, plus, and slash.

It's widely used to embed images in web pages, encode email attachments, and transmit data through systems that only handle text.

The encoded output is about a third larger than the original: The API returns the image as a base64 string.
