babyboomer

Born mid-century surge

A babyboomer is a person born during a period of elevated birth rates, typically referring to those born in Western countries between roughly 1946 and 1964, when postwar prosperity and optimism drove a demographic surge.

The term often carries generational connotations—boomers are stereotyped as entitled, resistant to change, or out of touch with younger generations: OK, boomer.

Also spelled baby boomer or baby-boomer.
