earthshine
Lunar secondhand sunlight
Earthshine is the faint glow visible on the dark portion of the moon, caused by sunlight reflecting off Earth's surface onto the lunar face.
It's most noticeable when the moon is a thin crescent: You could see the whole disk outlined by earthshine.
Also called earthlight.
